You Wanna Hear It?
This is a stupid, dumb, funny and fun ripoff of one of the most famous hardcore bands ever. They just take the original idea and make it evil and Satanic. It's goofy and it might make you smile. It's better than you might think it could be, but it is still simply novelty. I'm trying to avoid posting the band or record name, because the label this is on is pretty heavy-handed in shutting down downloads of their stuff, so the pictures will have to fill you in. Oh, and the people behind this band are in pretty well-known death metal bands from Ohio.
In A Car
This band is pretty famous compared to most of the stuff I put up, and this is their first 7". It's 5 minutes long and I like it more than anything else they did. I'm not saying they didn't put out other good records. I'm saying I like this one way more. Have fun.

Amanaz
Here's an unusual post. This is Africa, the sole album from Zambia's Amanaz. It was released in 1975 and is a really interesting combination of western musical styles and African traditions. You can hear rock, psych, folk, pop, Afrobeat and many other styles scattered about this record, but it is consistently groovy and the heart of the musicians glues all the disparate elements together very nicely. "Sunday Morning" is one of the chillest jams I've ever heard, perfect for the first song you put on when you wake up to another godforsaken day. Enjoy this excellent and unique album.

C.F.D.L. - Atrocity Exhibition
This is my favorite record by Crazy Fucked Up Daily Life, among other pseudonyms. They make such awful, terrible sounds and I can't thank them enough for it. Next time you're just over it, you know, the boring shows, the fakers, the axe body spray, the "good" bands....just put this on, and feel a little better (or worse).

Syudan Jisatsu - Demon Priest
Here's some true "mysterious guy" punk. Syudan Jisatsu translates roughly to "mass suicide" and only put out this one EP from '91. Obviously the whole record is steeped in the traditions of Japanese hardcore, but people seem unsure about who was behind this project, whether they are even Japanese or not. Some say Sakevi of GISM performed vocals on this, but while they sound incredibly similar, i don't think that's the case. The stronger opinions out there say that Syudan Jisatsu is comprised of Finnish folks, and some say that it's a solo project by a member of Selfish. Regardless of origin, this is a really well-done and authentic take on Japanese punk and it's intentional shroud of mystery is an added layer of intrigue. Get dark and weird.

GLOBSTERS
Adam Brewer is Globsters. He resides in a tiny town in Kentucky called Hazard and is the town's self-confessed "only punk." His band is AWESOME and consists of sampled hardcore riffs, noise and god-awfully abrasive vocals. I've been fortunate enough to see him play a few times and he always leaves the audience in a mixed state of joy/confusion/anger/ecstacy/betrayal/worship. "Pretty Women" is enough to deflate even the surliest bastard's balloon of self-importance. Keep on rockin' in the free world, Globsters! This file is the demo, the Totally Punk EP (which he gave me in person after my Dead Moon cover band played a Halloween years ago), and the newest, Rock N Roll Misery EP. MUSIC! kinda. Contrazione / Franti
Life gets in the way. It's for the best.
Here's some cool Italian punk for ya. I don't know anything about these bands, other than I like their music. CONTRAZIONE is more straightforward hardcore with some tasty and classic riffs. FRANTI is really interesting. They are very experimental and atmospheric in their approach and I can't say I've heard any other bands that sound quite like them. The two bands did a split LP that costs a couple weeks' pay (if you get paid as little as I do), and it's absolutely worth hearing. I've split the bands into separate folders and added to Contrazione's folder their stellar Cineocchio! Storia E Memoria record. Enjoy this fantastic Italian punk history!

Peter Stubb
Peter Stubb (not his actual name) is a man of many demons and many talents. His lo-fi songs are so many different things all at once, and he's been writing them for at least 20 years now, home-dubbing cassette tapes and selling them in person or through the mail for the change in your pocket. This is one of his more well-known tapes, Blueberry Masturbator, and the title alone should warn you that this isn't exactly a politically correct collection of songs. Like I said, the man has a lot going on in his head, and it's great for us listeners that his outlet is writing weird, fucked up, heartwrenching, absolutely beautiful (and at times, horrifically disturbing) songs. I have the inclination to say that this music isn't for everyone, but my heart is telling me that there is something so inherently human about Peter Stubb's music that everyone should listen to it and heed the perspective of this self-confessed madman...maybe he can remind us of the parts of ourselves that are constantly suffering, conflicted simply by the state of being stuck on this strange, fucked up plane. Thanks to Greg/Remote Outposts for this album.
