Rappresaglia

Here's an excellent and quite under-appreciated Italian punk band.  They were(are?) called Rappresaglia, which means "reprisal".  They started in 1982 and I'm not real sure when or if they ever broke up. Their early recordings have that same manic hardcore energy that all the early Italian bands seemed to be infected with, but Rappresaglia had a slightly more controlled, melodic style and it really works.  Don't skip this one if you're into Negazione, Raw Power, CCM, Declino and the ilk.

Soglia Del Dolore

I know nothing about this band.  They are from Italy and this 7" is from '85.  The music is catchy and the vocals just sound like some irate man yelling at you.  This rules.

NEGAZIONE EPs

They're back!  Negazione's untouchable Lo Spirito Continua LP was the first post on this thing, and I think it's high time you got some some excellent 7"s to accompany it.  This file has the Condannati A Morte Nel Vostro Quieto Vivere EP and the Tutti Pazzi EP, both from 1985.  Necessary early Italian hardcore and one of my all time favorite bands.  Get Ye With It.

Wretched / Indigesti

I can't believe I haven't posted this stuff yet!  The best of the best!  WRETCHED are what PUNK sounds like.  Total Destroy.  I've included the In Nome Del Loro Potere...EP, the more metallic La Tua Morte Non Aspetta LP, and the sweetest of cherries...the Wretched/Indigesti split 7"!  INDIGESTI were no slouches either, so you get their tracks too.

Contrazione / Franti

Life gets in the way.  It's for the best.

Here's some cool Italian punk for ya.  I don't know anything about these bands, other than I like their music.  CONTRAZIONE is more straightforward hardcore with some tasty and classic riffs.  FRANTI is really interesting.  They are very experimental and atmospheric in their approach and I can't say I've heard any other bands that sound quite like them.  The two bands did a split LP that costs a couple weeks' pay (if you get paid as little as I do), and it's absolutely worth hearing.  I've split the bands into separate folders and added to Contrazione's folder their stellar Cineocchio! Storia E Memoria record.  Enjoy this fantastic Italian punk history!

Death SS

Alright, it's been mostly punk (and will continue to be mostly punk..hey, it's just who I am) and maybe that's a bummer?  Maybe a curveball is overdue?  Okay...Here's Death SS, an Italian metal band...or "horror music" if you were to ask them...they've been around off and on since 1979 and had at least a bajillion different members...Steve Sylvester on vocals and Paul Chain on guitar being two of the more notable ones.  This is a 7" called Evil Metal and it's highly regarded by Death SS fans.  It's also from 1983, and I guess I have a weird and accidental '83 obsession, because it seems like everything I'm putting on here is from that year.  There's also a bonus song from some compilation I threw in the folder for you.  Enjoy this strange and melodramatic metal music.

Declino

I really can't stop listening to Italian punk.  Declino, from Turin, were one of the best.  I think they shared members with Negazione?  This is their first 7", Controproduzioni, from 1983.  Enjoy!

Ultracore

Here is one of the nastiest, gnarliest, ugliest, most despicable sounding bands to come out of the 80's.  Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers of Pisa, Italy!   I can't think of anything else to say about this band except that they kinda sound to me like if Black Flag (i really try not to toss the Flag references around lightly) got faster and darker instead of slower and darker, but with way more awesome vocals, seriously Syd's vocals are mindbendingly excruciating in the best way.  CCM are one of the greatest of all time, you best believe it.  This is a collection of 30 songs, split into 2 folders, for your difficulty.  Enjoy!

scemo is Italian for idiot.

I love Peggio Punx!  they rip so hard, yet sound so crappy!  Hailing from Alessandria, Italy, they were around from 1981 til the early 90's, and these two 7"s here are probably their best records.  The vocals are so inherently Italian...pissed, rapid-fire, wild, wreckless..all at once.  the guitar is trebley and thin as hell, like Ray from the Dead Kennedys, the bass is bouncy and deep and doesn't always play the "right" notes, and the drums, oh the drums...actually I'm not even sure they're drums...could be just a pile of broken metal and wood and cardboard.  Whatever the hell the drummer is playing, he plays the crap out of it and it sounds insane and cool as hell.  This zip is the first two 7"s Disastro Sonoro and La citta e quieta...ombre parlano, from '82 and '83, respectively.  Get ye with it!

the spirit continues...

I'm gonna give this music blog thing a shot.  It seems simple enough: I like music, I put it here, you listen to the music, and either you like it, too, or you don't.  Worst case, you've listened to something new.  Best case?  I'm not sure....

first up, my favorite record from Italy!  NEGAZIONE's "Lo Spirito Continua" from 1986!  This album is hardcore punk rock, fully realized.  10 tracks of aggressive, adventurous, all over the place hardcore and not a damn second of filler, not one uninspired guitar lick, featuring a vocalist that sounds like he's about to lose his freaking head.  There is a reason I chose this one to put up first...
