Lama

Early Finnish punk rock.  Lama were active from 1978 to 1983 and were a step above their contemporaries in my opinion.  This is their LP from '82.  Rage!

Syudan Jisatsu - Demon Priest

Here's some true "mysterious guy" punk.  Syudan Jisatsu translates roughly to "mass suicide" and only put out this one EP from '91.   Obviously the whole record is steeped in the traditions of Japanese hardcore, but people seem unsure about who was behind this project, whether they are even Japanese or not.  Some say Sakevi of GISM performed vocals on this, but while they sound incredibly similar, i don't think that's the case.  The stronger opinions out there say that Syudan Jisatsu is comprised of Finnish folks, and some say that it's a solo project by a member of Selfish.  Regardless of origin, this is a really well-done and authentic take on Japanese punk and it's intentional shroud of mystery is an added layer of intrigue.  Get dark and weird.

Terveet Kadet

How bout one of the first hardcore bands from Finland?  Terveet Kadet formed in 1980 in Tornio, Finland and they just killed it back then.  There is nothing less than excellent in their early records.  Then, time passed, they lost all their members except for the singer, and their records got more and more metallic.  Even more time passed, and they went back to their old sound and played their first US shows ever this year and now everyone loves them again!  Cool!  Here's two really awesome 7"s by Terveet Kadet from the early 80's.  Their name means "Healthy Hands."  Weird!
