Generacion Suicida

This is one of my favorite new bands.  Generacion Suicida consists of four folks from LA and they play a very stripped down and melodic style of punk.  They kinda remind me of Dead Moon's raw and primitive approach mixed with the slightly more melodic tendencies of bands like X, Masshysteri and Gorilla Angreb.  You will be bobbing your head and swinging your hips to these songs.  Catchy is an understatement.  Support this band and buy their stuff.  This file contains their 5 song demo and a 2 song single.  You can find more fantastic music to stream/purchase at their BANDCAMP.

The Grumpies

I FREAKING LOVE THE GRUMPIES.  Hyper fast, toothachingly sweet and rocking as hell.  They play so fast that you almost miss the fact that the guitars are shredding so hard, they could put some buttrock 70's bands to shame.  I can't think of another band that makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time.  They were from Alabama, this demo is from 1996 and these folks went on to play in other great bands like the Overnight Lows, Black Rainbow and Neon Piss.  Thanks to Greg for sharing and if anyone wants to upload the LP I'd love them for it.  Long Live Grumpies!

Amanaz

Here's an unusual post.  This is Africa, the sole album from Zambia's Amanaz.  It was released in 1975 and is a really interesting combination of western musical styles and African traditions.  You can hear rock, psych, folk, pop, Afrobeat and many other styles scattered about this record, but it is consistently groovy and the heart of the musicians glues all the disparate elements together very nicely.  "Sunday Morning" is one of the chillest jams I've ever heard, perfect for the first song you put on when you wake up to another godforsaken day.  Enjoy this excellent and unique album.

Death Side - Bet On The Possibility

Sorry that I've just been a tease, only giving you THIS EP from the mighty Death Side up til now.  It's just not right.  This is the original Burning Spirits and I personally don't think anyone else ever matched Death Side's power or focus.  Just dig into this fantastic and forceful LP and see/feel for yourself.

Siege - Drop Dead

Siege only had to record these 9 songs way back in 1984 and hardcore punk is still trying to catch up to what this band did.  You can't make and eat a sandwich in the time it takes to listen to this record and it's just not funny how ahead of their time they were.

SSWWAANNSS - FFIILLTTHH

You don't need any of my words to accompany these sounds.

Inquisition

100 posts!  As tribute, I offer this slab of EVIL.  It may not be the most menacing, the rawest, or the most kvlt record, but these things do not matter once you push play.  This is an entrancing and epic trip into the blackened nether-regions of the cosmos.  Hop on this wicked spaceship.

Initial State

Speaking of...I can't believe I haven't put this one up yet.  After Antischism broke up, everybody but the bassist moved to Austin, Texas and formed a band that sounded a lot like Antischism but with a darker, heavier and more atmospheric bent.  They only released this one LP, then split up and went in their respective musical directions. These folks have consistently made some of the best and most innovative hardcore punk for the last 2+ decades and I will never stray far from my dark and southern hardcore roots, largely in part to Lyz, Kevin and Scott.  I've listened to this record at least once or twice a month every month for years and years and years.  Thanks ya'll.

Soglia Del Dolore

I know nothing about this band.  They are from Italy and this 7" is from '85.  The music is catchy and the vocals just sound like some irate man yelling at you.  This rules.

Icons Of Filth

I don't have much to say about Icons Of Filth except that I'll take them over Discharge any day.  RIP Stig.  You get one LP and 2 EPs in the link down below.

Fastbacks - ...And His Orchestra

So great.  Like Joan Jett, The Ramones and Dinosaur Jr. in a blender.

C.F.D.L. - Atrocity Exhibition

This is my favorite record by Crazy Fucked Up Daily Life, among other pseudonyms.  They make such awful, terrible sounds and I can't thank them enough for it.   Next time you're just over it, you know, the boring shows, the fakers, the axe body spray, the "good" bands....just put this on, and feel a little better (or worse).

F - You Are An EP

F were from South Florida, not California and that's why you know the words from "Nervous Breakdown" or "Police Story" way better than the words to "No" or "Spit It Out."  That's pretty much the main difference.  Otherwise, this is just as essential as any other 80's hardcore punk record.  Top notch songs that need to be listened to.
